Advocate Manager
Full Time / Hybrid
General Description
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of McHenry County is a non-profit whose mission is to provide trained and committed volunteers who advocate for the best interest of children in foster care due to abuse and neglect. Our volunteers are often the only consistent adult in a child's life as they move from home to home and see caseworkers come and go. CASA is looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting and protecting vulnerable children.
The Advocate Manager provides training, supervision and support to CASA volunteer advocates, ensuring that children in foster care involved with the CASA program receive sound advocacy and proactive permanency planning. The Advocate Manager is responsible for advocate supervision and coordination of cases.
Qualifications
The Advocate Manager should have the following skills and experience:

Bachelor’s degree in social service-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

The ability to communicate with, supervise, and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles

Passionate about working as a team player and interact positively with volunteers, staff, and donors.

Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills

Demonstrates maturity and responsibility in handling confidential information and "heavy" issues such as the abuse of children.

Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families in crisis relating to child abuse and neglect

Completion of CASA of McHenry County’s training program within 6 months of hire
-
Commitment to CASA of McHenry County’s goals and mission

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Additional experience with other software a plus
Accountability and Location
The Advocate Manager reports directly to the Program Director who is responsible for his/her performance evaluations. The first 90 days, the Advocate Manager will work from the CASA of McHenry County office in Crystal Lake, IL. Upon completion of a positive 90-day review, a hybrid schedule will be made available as an option (3 days in the office/court, 2 days from home).
Responsibilities

Provide ongoing supervision to advocates, including helping to develop initial case plans

Research and prepare case files for assignment to advocates and work as a team to assign case files to appropriate advocate

Organize and maintain case files

Attend court hearings 1-2 days per week

Assist in the training of prospective volunteer advocates
