A Court Appointed Special Adovcate (CASA) is an everyday citizen, specially trained by CASA of McHenry County, to advocate in Juvenile Abuse Court for the best interests and safety of children involved as victims of abuse and neglect. CASA volunteers are appointed by the Juvenile Court Judge to chidlren 21 years and younger to be the eyes and ears of the Judge and the voice of the child. They gather information, identify resources and work in partnership with all parties to the case to ensure the child's needs are met. The ultimate goal of CASA is to help ensure every child has a safe, permanent home be it through reunification, guardianship or adoption.
CASA of McHenry County hosts several events each year to provide financial support to the organization. Supporters of CASA come together to help plan and execute these events. We are always seeking talented members of the community to help plan an event. View our upcoming volunteer opportunities here or click the email button to learn more about event volunteer opportunities.
Perhaps you have just an hour or two each month to dedicate to volunteering. CASA would love to have your help in the office or during an event. The CASA offices are open between 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday and closed on the weekends. Office work is on an as needed basis and is not a regularly scheduled volunteer position. Please be aware there might be gaps of time between volunteer opportunities available. To be included on our volunteers list, please click the email button to be connected with a staff person.
At this time, CASA is no longer able to utilize office volunteer help due to the nature of the our highly confidential work.
Thank you for your understanding, please check out CASA's other volunteer needs!
